Yes, the floor must be completely clear on installation day. We ask that vehicles, shelving, and stored items are moved the evening before. We help move smaller items on the day if needed.
Diamond grinding mechanically removes the surface layer of concrete to open its pores, creating a profile (CSP 3) that allows epoxy to form a true chemical bond. Acid washing, used by budget installers, cleans the surface but doesn't open the pores adequately. The result is peeling within a year or two.
No. Any existing paint, sealant, or coating must be fully removed before epoxy can be applied. We remove all existing coatings as part of our preparation process.

Minor static hairline cracks are filled and stabilized during preparation and will not telegraph through the coating. Active growing cracks require structural remediation first, we flag these during the estimate.
Epoxy vs Other Systems
Epoxy is the base system, exceptionally adhesive and durable. Polyaspartic is a topcoat that is 4x more abrasion-resistant, UV-stable (won't yellow), and cures faster. We apply both layers on every install for peak performance.
Store-bought kits use water-based epoxy with 30–50% solids content and rely on acid washing for prep. Professional systems use 100% solids epoxy applied over mechanically ground concrete, 3–5x thicker, far stronger, lasting decades rather than seasons.
A full-broadcast chip/flake system provides excellent traction even when wet. Solid-color and metallic systems are smoother. For garages with water intrusion we recommend adding a non-slip aggregate to the topcoat, included at no extra charge upon request.
